What is Data?

Data can be defined as a raw fact that is entered into the computer system for processing. Data also is known to be a collection of materials to be transformed into a piece of meaningful information after it has been input into the computer system

Data passes through stages that are termed the Information processing Cycle. Through this series of stages, a series of commands and syntax are executed. The stages involve the following:

• Input Stage
• Processing Stage
• Output Stage and
• Storage Stage.

Data can be in the form of anything that ain’t meaningful such as 1+1, 7*p, 4+7, and so on. The processed data in other words is known as Output/Information.
