Definition:
A Folder in computing simply means a place or a location where files, documents, and other subfolders are saved or kept. In a layman’s view, it is simply where things in the computer system are saved.
How to create a folder
To create a folder, a user must follow the below steps:
- Right click on a specific location where you want to create the folder, for example, desktop, on the HDD, on a flash drive etc
- From the shortcut menu, select and click on New
- Click on Folder from the additional menu
- Type the name of the folder
- Press the enter key or click outside the folder
How to Rename a Folder
- Right click on the folder
- Move the pointer to Rename
- Click on it
- Type a new name
- Press the enter key once
How to Delete a Folder
- Right click on the specific folder you want to delete
- From the given menu, click on delete
- Click on YES if you want to proceed with the deletion or click on NO if you do not want to delete the folder
How to Move a folder
- Click and hold down the primary mouse button on the folder you want to move
- Drag the mouse pointer, still holding down the button, to a new location
- Release the button upon reaching your destination or where you want to paste the Folder
How to copy a Folder
- Right click on the folder you want to copy
- From the shortcut menu, select and click on the Copy
- Open a location or move to a target, where you want to paste the folder
- Right click on an empty space
- Click on Paste
How to Cut a Folder
- Right click on the particular folder you want to cut
- From the given commands, select and click on cut
- Locate the pointer, where you want to paste the folder
- Right click and click on the Paste command from the series of commands given
