How to Rename a Folder

Folders are places or locations where files and other subfolders and documents are saved. A folder is always appearing in a yellowish color as the default.

How to Rename a Folder

To rename a folder located on the desktop:

  1. Right-click on the folder
  2. From the shortcut menu, select and click on rename
  3. Type a new for the folder
  4. Press the enter key or click outside the folder.

A folder mayor can also be renamed from an old name to a new name in any given location.

How to rename a folder in Disk Operating System

In DOS(Disk Operating System) Folders are called Directories, however, they have a unique way of creating them. Creating a directory in DOS goes by the command cd directory name and press the enter key.

To rename a directory in DOS;

  1. Type ren oldname newname
  2. Press the enter key once

(REN FRED JOHN)

In the above case, the folder Fred, thus the old name, has been changed to a new name called John.
