Datafication In Computing

The act of converting and changing information into a different state is termed datafication. The process of datafication involves turning information into data that can be analyzed and used in decision-making.

This can be accomplished using a variety of techniques, including gathering data from sensors, surveys, or other sources, cleaning the data, and formatting it so that computers can use it.

Datafication, which enables companies to base choices on the data they gather, is a crucial component of the digital revolution that is occurring in many industries.

There are many different kinds of devices that constitute the datafication process. Consider the below devices or components below:

  • Cameras
  • Sensors
  • Microphones

With the aforementioned components, sensors, for instance, can collect data about the physical environment such as temperature, humidity, and light levels. Cameras on the other hand pulled up details, for example, photos and videos as per the user’s request.

All of this data can be used to create a digital representation of the world around us, which can then be used for analysis and decision-making.
