There are instances where users cannot allocate themselves to a shared network drive. However, as a system administrator, you would have to fine means and the best way of assisting users to have access the network drive.
Find the solution to the aforementioned issue below:
- Make sure and verify that user’s credentials and ensure they have permission to access the shard drive or device
- Check the network cable and ensure it is securely connected to the member’s or user’s computer and make sure the network switch is functioning properly and turned on.
- As usual, ping the server hosting the shared device or drive to ensure that it is reachable
- In addition to the aforementioned, check the even viewer logs on the user’s computer and the server for any error and omissions messages related to the shared drive or device.
- If necessary and possible, the server together with the user’s PCs be restarted to ensure all services are running correctly.
- NB: Make sure all nodes are connected to the main server and thus the drive or devices is not disconnected from the main server as well.
