- MS-DOS means – Microsoft Disk Operating System
- Windows means – Wide Interactive Network Development for Office Work Solution
Both are mainly known to be the commonest operating system used widely and globally by most PC Users. A personal computer is a multipurpose microcomputer whose size, together with its capabilities and prices make it feasible for individuals to use.
The two operating systems help users to perform many functions such as controlling other services in the PC and related functionalities.
Differences Between MS-DOS and Windows
- When it comes to creating folders in windows, the right-clicking method is used at any location in case a user wants to create a folder. That is:
- right click on an empty space
- Move the mouse pointer to the New
- Click on the New
- Select and Click on Folder
- Type the precise name for the folder
- Click outside the folder or press the enter key once.
In DOS, thus Disk Operating System, you would only be prompted to perform the below simple instructions:
- At the command prompt, type MD; where MD means Make Directory
- Press the spacebar once to apply a space
- Type the Directory’s name
- Press the Enter key once.
Note that, Directories are called Windows as Folders.
- DOS is a binary tasking operating system
- Windows has multitasking purposes and it deals mainly with graphics or graphical user interface.
- One of most the differences are that DOS is difficult to use, whereas, Windows is a user-friendly one.
