How to check for OS updates

Updating a system makes the hardware and/or the older version of the application very strong, thus requiring security patches and fixes.

Open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) or Command Prompt (Windows key + R, then type cmd and press Enter).

Apply the below commands and syntax. depending on your operating system:

For Ubuntu or Debian-based Linux distributions, type:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

For Fedora Linux, type:

Download
Copy code
sudo dnf update

For CentOS or RHEL Linux, type:

sudo yum update

For openSUSE Linux, type:

Download
Copy code
sudo zypper update

For Windows 10, type:

Windows Update

If there are any available updates, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.

Note:
Keep in mind that for some older Linux distributions or Windows versions, you may need to add or modify repositories in order to receive updates. It’s also recommended to create a backup of your system before performing any updates, especially for major versions, as there may be times when a rollback to a previous version is necessary.
